London to San Francisco
Oh London, it’s so hard to leave you. It was a brilliant visit. I saw friends and family and my pals at MOJO magazine; I sang in a basement in Soho with my close friend the jazz singer Florence Joelle. And two days before I flew back to America, I played a show with my old friend Jason McNiff at the Green Note, an excellent folk venue in Camden, London. The first time I played with Jason was all those years ago when the English version of my book I’m Your Man: The Life of Leonard Cohen was released, and I went on the road halfway around the world and back, reading from the book and singing Leonard’s songs. Jason, a big Cohen fan himself and a brilliant guitar player, played some of those shows with me, in London and on tour in California and Nevada.
I’m back in San Francisco now, trying to shake a really awful cold I caught on the flight back.
Happy Hallloween!
