Passing Through

Reflection

It’s been a reflective start to 2023. A week hasn’t gone by without the song “Passing Through” - a cover of an old song from the Socialist Songbook on Leonard Cohen’s 1973 album Live Songs - coming to mind.

Tell the people that you saw me passing through” . That seems to be all that I’ve been doing this year, writing about the great singers, songwriters and musicians I grew up on who have passed away . People like David Crosby, Jeff Beck, Burt Bacharach, those musical gods who walked among us, and who were there throughout my life, not just soundtracking it but shaping it. Like the chorus of that old song says, “I’ve so little time and I’m only passin’ through.

Well, I have another long piece to write and a very short deadline, so I’ll have to get back to work. Meanwhile, I hope you’re all doing well. Thank you for all the support you gave me and messages you sent last year, they really are appreciated - and to those that asked, yes I’m still writing new songs and I hope to do some more shows and some recording before too long.
